How to read the women's football pyramid chart above:
The women's football pyramid shows how women's football teams can progress from a County League (Step 6) at the base of the pyramid, to the FA Women's Premier League at the top (Step1). If you read vertically up a column you can see the route through the leagues a team could make.
For example, a team in the Cheshire & Manchester County League (Step 6) could be promoted to the North West Regional League (Division 1 North or South at Step 5, then the Premier Division at Step 4). Promotion could then follow to the Northern Combination League (Step 3), and the FA Women's Premier League Northern Division (Step 2), and finally to the National Division (Step 1). Following the same path in reverse, a team could also be relegated in the opposite direction.
